ST GEORGE UTAH – The success and ever growing popularity of “Sports Tourism” in Southern Utah owes a great deal of gratitude to the annual St. George Marathon.  This year marks the 40th year of the Marathon.

“Rated by Runner’s World as one of the four “Marathons to Build a Vacation Around” in the World. Included in Runner`s World 10 Most Scenic and Fastest Marathons and Top 20 Marathons in the USA. It begins in the majestic Pine Valley mountains and descends nearly 2600 feet through scenic southwest Utah, to the beautiful Worthen Park. The St. George Marathon is a point-to-point race which is USA Track & Field Certified & Sanctioned. Runner`s World listed the St. George Marathon as the fastest fall marathon. MOVE IT EVENTS – The St. George Marathon is proud to present our Marathon Move IT! Events. Three great races, three chances to cross the St. George Marathon finish line, three opportunities to spend time with family, friends and members of the St. George community – all without running the entire 26.2 miles

Two events, I AM ABLE and the Marathon Move IT! Kids Run will start the weekend off on Friday evening at Vernon Worthen Park (300 E 300 S) beginning at 6:00 pm. Two distances will be available for each event, 1 mile and 200 meters. The I AM ABLE run, walk or roll event is for persons with disabilities of all ages. Each participant are required to have one person without disabilities accompany them from the start to finish line. The Marathon Move IT! Kids Run will follow, and is a kids ONLY event, no parents allowed. Following both events the Party in the Park will start! Participants and their families will have the chance to dance with Waddles the Penguin to music by a live D.J., win prizes, play in the bounce houses, get their face painted, and much more! The party will start after the races and will go until 8:00 pm. The night before the Marathon is turning into a big race celebration!

The third event on Saturday morning is for your ENTIRE family; the 30th annual Mayor’s Walk (Register Here) hosted by the ST. GEORGE EXCHANGE CLUB and sponsored by State Bank of Southern Utah and Planet 94.1. Be one of the 1,200 participants in the exciting St. George Marathon experience as we walk to the St. George Marathon finish line with Mayor Jon Pike, business associates, school mates, friends and family. The Mayor’s Walk begins on Saturday at 6:45 a.m. at Sand Town Park (700 N Bluff Street), and follows Diagonal Street to Main Street to 300 South, ending at the finish line at Vernon Worthen Park (350 E 300 S).
